If the truth is told I don't think anyone in South Louisiana will really want to turn their oven on until October. The unbearable heat that we have been living with makes cool and refreshing the order of the day. So you have to imagine my reaction when Chef Jill McCoy offered as this weeks Foodie Friday favorite a recipe for brownies.

I like brownies. I don't think I ever met a brownie I didn't like. However, I was not about to heat up my kitchen when I finally got the house cooled down. That's when Chef Jill sprung this news on me. These brownies don't require cooking or an oven they are raw.

In my mind I had a flashback of a incident with raw cookie dough when I was a kid. I won't go into vivid detail but I have a similar flashback when I think about the times I drank too much tequila. It's not a pretty vision. Still, I was intrigued and then I was impressed. I think you will be too.

At first glance you'd swear these brownies were like all the other delicious brownies you've ever eaten. The texture is gooey, the flavor is is more vibrant than any other brownie I have ever had. Then when you find out these brownies are totally healthy and good for you that is when your jaw will hit the table. Fortunately when that happens you can just shovel another brownie into your mouth.

The batter for these brownies is not really a batter. It is more of a combination of consistency with outside flavors to enhance the mix. The addition of cinnamon gives these uncooked treats a hint of Mediterranean mystique too. I was totally blown away by how simple this recipe was to make and how delicious it turned out.
