19-year-old Matthew Adams of Rayne has been booked into the Acadia Parish Jail after a traffic stop turned into a drug bust.

Crowley Police Chief K.P. Gibson says Adams was pulled over by narcotics agents last week while he was driving on East Elm Street in Crowley. Police say, after they get permission to search the vehicle, they found 80 packs of synthetic marijuana and 1 gram of cocaine in the vehicle.

Chief Gibson says Adams has been arrested and booked on the cocaine possession charge, but the synthetic marijuana charge is pending as authorities are still testing the product. “We have sent the packages of synthetic marijuana to the Acadiana Crime Lab for a chemical analysis. Once ACL completes the testing, warrants will be issued for PWITD synthetic marijuana on Adams,” says Chief Gibson.
