Rayne Police Looking For Arson Suspect In South Rayne Elementary Fire

Officers with the Rayne Police Department need your help trying to figure out who started a fire at South Rayne Elementary on August 14, delaying the first day of school.

Rayne Police believe the fire was intentionally set. Investigators say the blaze happened in the rear of the gym. Detectives found that a suspect(s) vandalized a school bus, a classroom and the gym then set the gym on fire, causing about $225,000 of damage from fire, smoke and water. The gym is currently being repaired and the students are unable to use it for the next few months.
