The lovely folks from Moody Gardens came by and visited us yesterday morning to discuss their new pirate exhibition, and let me just tell you, it sounds awesome! This could be the perfect get-a-way for you and your family.

The Real Pirates exhibit isn't like Pirates of the Caribbean; it is educational and enlightening, and displays a real pirate ship which crashed and sank in 1717. Also, 150 authentic items from the Whydah ship are featured. Cannons, coins, and a replica of the ship will be available to view and enjoy.

Through the compelling stories of the people whose lives converged on the vessel before it sank, Real Pirates offers visitors a special glimpse into the political, social, and economic circumstances of the early 18th century Caribbean. The Whydah's story is fascinating; the ship crashed in a storm off Cape Cod, Ma. in 1717 and was not ever discovered until 1984.

Moody Gardens also provides a wonderful resort with a giant pool, relaxing spa, fantastic golf course, and so much more. It is an ideal weekend for you and your significant other or you and the entire family. Visit the Real Pirates exhibit before it is too late. The Exhibition will end September 28, 2014 - book your fun now!

Here are some real, silver coins which were discovered along the shipwreck's remains.
