The American League Champions have taken a commanding lead in the 2018 Major League Baseball World Series.

The Boston Red Sox defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers, 9-6, in Game 4 on Saturday night in Los Angeles, California, to take a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-7 game series.

The Red Sox, who trailed, 4-0, heading into the top half of the 7th inning, scored nine-unanswered runs, from the top of the 7th through the top half of the 9th, to help them get to within one game of their 9th all-time World Series title.

Los Angeles got on the scoreboard first, scoring four times in the bottom half of the 6th inning off of Boston starter Eduardo Rodriguez, who shutout the Dodgers through the first 5 innings to start the game.

After the Dodgers loaded the bases, Cody Bellinger drove home Justin Turner on a fielder's choice ground ball, for the game's first run, before Yasiel Puig crushed a 3-run home run to left-field, to make it 4-0.

Rodriguez ended turning in 5.2 innings of work for Boston, allowing four runs on four hits.

Boston got in the scoring column in the top half of the 7th inning, when Mitch Moreland, entering the game as a pinch-hitter, belted a two-out, three-run homer off of Los Angeles reliever Ryan Madson, to cut the deficit to 4-3.

Rich Hill, who pitched 6.1 innings of one-hit, one-run baseball, while striking out 7 hitters, gave Los Angeles a quality start, before giving way to Scott Alexander, who allowed a run on a walk, and Madson, who surrendered the gopher ball to Moreland.

The Red Sox tied things in the top half of the 8th inning, when Steve Pearce smashed a solo homer off of Los Angeles reliever Kenley Jansen, to make it 4-4.

Jansen, who worked only the top half of the 8th inning, allowed only the one hit, which was a big one.

Boston took their first lead in the top half of the 9th inning, when Brock Holt reached on a one-out double off of Los Angeles reliever Dylan Floro, before scoring on a single by Rafael Devers, to give them a 5-4 advantage.

But the Red Sox, who sent ten to the plate in the frame, weren't finished, as one batter later, Pearce drove home three runs with a double, to make it 8-4, before Xander Bogaerts singled home the 5th run of the inning, to widen the advantage to 9-4.

That made it 9-unanswered runs, at the time, for Boston.

The Dodgers, refusing to give up, scored two run in the bottom half of the 9th inning, on a 2-run homer by Kike' Hernandez off Red Sox closer Craig Kimbrel, to trim the deficit to 9-6.

It wasn't enough however, as Boston hung on for the 3-run victory.

The Red Sox, who were actually outhit by the Dodgers, 9-8, were led at the plate by Pearce, who homered and drove in four runs, while Morleland homered and drove home three.

In a losing cause for the Dodgers, Puig and Hernandez both homered, while Turner went 3-for-4 with a run scored.

Joe Kelly, who pitched two innings of shutout relief, recorded the win for Boston.

Kimbrel allowed two run in the bottom half of the 9th inning in a non-save situation.

Floro, who allowed one run on two hits over 0.2 innings

Game 5 of the Fall Classic is scheduled for Sunday night in Los Angeles, with first-pitch at 7:15 (CDT).
