While much of the national and statewide attention was focused on the United States Senate runoff election, there were other congressional seats across the state that needed to be filled. Voters in Louisiana's 5th and 6th Congressional Districts had choices to make as well. In both cases, new congressmen were elected yet the seats remained in control of the Republican Party.

In Louisiana's 5th Congressional District, the seat held for one term congressman Vance McAllister, another Republican will take over. Dr Ralph Abraham was a wide majority winner over his Democratic challenger Jamie Mayo. Mayo who is the current Mayor of Monroe garnered 35% of the vote while Abraham captured 64%.

In the 6th Congressional District runoff former Governor Edwin Edwards had never lost a political runoff election until Saturday. The colorful and controversial former Governor was hoping to earn the seat of now Senator elect Bill Cassidy. However, Edwards was defeated by another Republican Garret Graves. Graves earned 62% of the vote to Edwards 38%.
