According to multiple reports, former Saints Center Jonathan Goodwin will return to New Orleans, agreeing to an undisclosed deal he'll sign this week.

Goodwin started at Center for the Saints from 2008-2010, earning a Pro Bowl nod in 2009 when New Orleans won the Super Bowl. He signed with San Francisco in 2011, spending the last 3 seasons with the 49ers.

At 35 years old, Goodwin already knows the intricacies of the Saints offense, making him an even more valuable veteran.

Second-year pro Tim Lelito is penciled in as the Saints current starter on the 2014 depth chart. However, once Goodwin's deal is made official, it's hard to imagine a scenario where there isn't a competition between the two for the starting gig.

At 6'3, 318 pounds, Goodwin started every game for the Niners. A 13 year veteran, he has a major experience edge on the 24 year old Lelito. However, Lelito has practiced with the starting unit this offseason, gaining a head start on Goodwin before training camp.
