The New Orleans Saints placed cornerback Damian Swann on injured reserve today, according to multiple reports, ending his 2016 season before it gets started.

Saints head coach Sean Payton confirmed yesterday after practice Swann was in Philadelphia seeing Dr. William Myers (first reported by espn.com) who specializes in core muscle injuries.

Swann played in 7 games last season, starting in 2. His play was solid, displaying signs of potential that could be a core part of the future.

He eventually was put on IR last season after suffering 3 concussions.

Heading into training camp, hopes were high for Swann to be a big piece of this year's secondary.
