With the first (13 overall) of their two first round picks, the New Orleans Saints selected offensive tackle Andrus Peat out of Stanford.

Peat, 21, has big size at 6'7, 313 pounds, and was named a second-team All-American last season with the Cardinal after his junior season.

"It's pretty special to see all my family and the reaction on their faces," said Peat to NFL Network's Deion Sanders after being selected. "Being drafted by a great organization like the Saints is amazing. I'm so happy."

The selection of Peat continues an ongoing theme of the Saints offseason. Protect Drew Brees.

Trading Jimmy Graham to Seattle for the 31rst overall pick and All-Pro center Max Unger, plus the addition of Peat reiterates their commitment to keep 36 year old Brees upright.

"That's a huge honor (blocking for Brees)," said Peat. "I'm going to give the organization everything I have."

While some speculated Peat may play guard in the Saints offense with Terron Armstead (LT) and veteran Zach Strief (RT) back, head coach Sean Payton made it clear on Thursday night that won't happen.

"Terron's done a great job and obviously Zach is fantastic," said Payton. "All that other stuff will take care of itself."

When pressed further about Peat possibly playing guard, Payton made it clear.

"I don't see that. I don't see that," noted Payton. "He's a tackle."

Here are a few highlights and analysis of Peat.
