For the first time in his life, Jonathan Vilma was admittedly speechless.

The former NFL linebacker had no words when he got the phone call he would be honored by the New Orleans Saints as a 2017 Hall of Famer.

As a key member of the most successful run in team history, VIlma was a Pro Bowler and captain of a Saints defense that helped the franchise capture its only Super Bowl Championship in 2009-10.

"That was probably the first time I was speechless," said Vilma, who has always been an open book, sharing whatever is on his mind.

Another key member of the Saints Super Bowl team was All-Pro guard Carl Nicks.

He joins Vilma in the 2017 Saints HOF class.

"I didn't cry when we won the Super Bowl, so I'm not going to cry today," noted Nicks at the induction announcement. "I was a part of something special here."

Joining the two former Pro Bowlers is Jay Romig. While he hasn't played a snap for New Orleans, he has been with the organization for 41 years, beginning as an assistant athletic trainer and club liaison, working his way into many different roles.

Jay joins his father, Jerry, as a New Orleans Saints Hall of Famer. Jerry, who passed away in 2015, was inducted as the gameday PA announcer  and team liaison in 2009.
