Dallas Cowboys v New Orleans Saints

Drew Brees was back but not in exactly Drew Brees form. The Saints defense played fairly well too. In the end it was a play that Saints fans are used to seeing that finally put the Saints in the win column.

For most of the night Saints Quarterback Drew Brees threw short to intermediate passes instead of the long home run balls we are used to seeing from this future Hall of Fame star. He connected on 33 of 41 passes for a total of 359 passing yards.

The Saints defense was very stingy with Cowboys backup Quarterback Brandon Weeden. The Black and Gold defense only allowed Dallas to convert on 3 of 12 third down attempts. However, it was a fourth down conversion with 1:51 left in the game that had Saints fans worried. That's because that conversion tied up the game as the Cowboys broke through with a touchdown.

After the score was tied Brees marched the Saints down the field for a game winning field goal try by rookie Zach Hocker. Hocker's attempt to win the game from 30 yards out failed as his kick hit the upright. That sent the game into overtime tied at 20-20.

It was on the second play of overtime that it happened. The big home run ball that Saints fans have been waiting for all year. Brees connected with C.J. Spiller on an 80 yard touchdown strike. That made the final score New Orleans 26, Dallas 20. This gave the Saints their first victory of the 2015 season.
