The New Orleans Saints have traded 2015 first round pick Stephone Anthony to the Miami Dolphins for a 5th round 2018 draft pick, the team announced today.

Anthony was expected to be a core piece of the Saints future following his 2015 rookie season when he led the team in tackles with 112.

2016 was the polar opposite, as Anthony struggled with minor injuries, but even when healthy, wasn't good enough in the coaches eyes to see much action on the field.

Rumors swirled that Anthony was not smart enough for the pro game, struggling with pre-snap defensive assignments.

With only 16 total tackles in 2016, and a poor training camp, Anthony was an expected cut at the end of camp, but stuck on the 53 man roster.

Now, he's on his way to Miami, for a fifth rounder. It's a quick fall for a first rounder, who just two seasons ago, led the defense in tackles.
