35-year-old Lafayette man Salvador Perez was arrested and charged with Criminal Damage to a Historic Building and Criminal Trespassing after allegedly placing graffiti at the 9/11 monument in downtown Lafayette was released on bail.

A photo of Perez surfaced on the "Spring Sal" Facebook page early this morning along with the message "Mission Accomplished". The "Spring Sal" Facebook page was created to raise the money needed to bail Perez out of jail following his arrest.

Lafayette Police Cpl. Paul Mouton says Salvador Perez was booked Wednesday on a charge of criminal damage to a historic building and criminal trespassing. He faces up to $1,000 in fines and two years in jail if convicted.

Perez was being held on $11,000 bond.
