According to ESPN, The NFL fined San Francisco 49ers linebacker Ahmad Brooks $16,000 for his hit Sunday on New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees.

San Francisco Head Coach Jim Harbaugh tells Associated Press he stands behind his opinion that the hit was legal.

From Associated Press :

"The play occurred that occurred. I thought Ahmad hit at the right level, hit at the shoulder level. The quarterback kind of shrunk down and that's the official's call to make. I'm going to see it the way I see it and that's going to be a slanted view. I really don't know much more to say about that."

"All I remember is just getting clothes-lined in the chin and as I'm on the ground, I'm saying, 'That's got to be a flag,'" Brees said. "One of my teammates kind of picked me up and said, 'Are you all right?' and he said, 'Don't worry, there's a flag.' "I said, 'All right, good.' Just took a moment, and you've got to get ready to go."
