Congressman Steve Scalise continues to recover from gunshot wounds sustained while he was at a practice for a charity baseball game in suburban Washington D.C. this past Wednesday. While hopes and prayers are plentiful for Scalise an honorary gesture by his alma mater, LSU, just might be some of the best medicine the congressman could receive.

LSU baseball coach Paul Mainieri told reporters that Scalise will be an honorary captain of the Tiger team during the College World Series in Omaha. Scalise is well known as being a big fan of the game of baseball as well as an ardent follower of the LSU program.

The Tigers are set to open College World Series play on Saturday night against the Florida State Seminoles. The first pitch is set for 7 PM. The game will be televised nationally on the ESPN television network.
