Shortly before 10, last night crews from the Franklin and Baldwin Volunteer Fire Departments were summoned to drainage canal in Charenton near the railroad bridge. There was a report that a person had fallen from the bridge into the canal.

As of 1 AM, the search was continuing but the lead position in that search had been handed over to the United States Coast Guard and the St. Mary Sheriff's Department. There haven't been many details released about the individual that is missing. The mission is being assisted from the air by a Coast Guard helicopter as other first responders search the area on foot and via boat.

According to a report via the Baldwin Fire Department Facebook page. The search for the missing person has been suspended as of 2 AM. That search will resume at first light later this morning.
