If you love watching the sport of politics then you've got to appreciate the latest ploy by former Senate candidate Paul Hollis. Hollis has begun legal action against Senator Mary Landrieu by claiming in court the Senator no longer is a resident of the state she is trying to be elected to represent.

Does this lawsuit have merit? It probably doesn't but what it does do is take Landrieu's focus off of talking about real issues that affect the citizens of Louisiana.

"Because instead of talking about other issues like oil and gas, education, and her chairmanship, she's going to have to spend a little bit of time defending that she is a Louisiana resident."

That is what University of Louisiana Monroe Political Science professor Joshua Stockley had to say about the legal action as reported by the Louisiana Radio Network.  Stockley went on to clarify the residency issue in regards to Ms Landrieu.

"Senator Landrieu has a residency in Louisiana, whether it is with her parents or not is irrelevant.  She pays taxes here in Louisiana as a Louisiana resident"

According to the Secretary of States office Ms Landrieu is a registered voter in the State of Louisiana.

Hollis dropped out of the race a several weeks ago and threw his support behind Bill Cassidy. The move is viewed a purely political by most observers. The affect on the Landrieu campaign should only be temporary and it just goes to show you that the game of politics is alive and still very sick in our lovely state.
