Skipping – It’s Not Just For School Anymore [Video]
My friend Tracy Wirtz from KATC TV 3 and the weekend shows here at 97.3 The Dawg has a segment on her program called “You Gotta Move”. It’s a great segment and even better advice for those who want to stay healthy.
I like moving around. I enjoy walking, running and even cutting my own grass with a push mower but I don’t know if Lafayette is ready for this kind of a fitness craze. This man from Rhode Island has designated himself “The Skipper”. Not the Skipper like in Gilligan’s Island but skipper as in the childlike hybrid activity that is somewhere between walking and running and is usually made to the sound of laughter.
Here is an interesting fact, did you know that skipping is actually a better exercise than walking and running? It requires more effort on the leg muscles, the cardiovascular system and your body takes less of a pounding. If you are a runner, it will also increase your sprinting speed because you know there are a lot of people that are going to want to beat the tar out of you for skipping around town like that.
