Can you imagine living in Acadiana without any of our incredible, locally owned boudin shops, boutiques, music stores, jewelers, restaurants, hobby shops or sporting goods stores? That's just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the amazingly diverse local services and goods you can find here. This Saturday, it's time to say "Thank You" to these people who help make our community such a wonderful place to live. It's time to "Shop Small"!

Obviously, Black Friday is the biggest shopping day around the whole dang U.S.A. But, Saturday November 25th is national "Small Business Saturday" and your chance to support businesses right here in the Acadiana area.

We know it's important to support our favorite local businesses, but did you know that In Louisiana, small businesses make up over 97% of the state's employers? Pretty incredible.

Almost 1 million Louisianians are employed by small businesses. If these businesses don't thrive, no one can thrive.

Gov. John Bel Edwards via KATC -

Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, and they do so much to showcase the skills, talent and culture that can only be found in Louisiana. It is important that we acknowledge the tremendous contributions our small businesses owners and their staffs make throughout the year, and supporting Small Business Saturday is a sincere way to express our thanks and gratitude for all they do to better our state

As a matter of fact, our locally owned businesses are some of the greatest in the Country. Thumbtack.com has recently given Louisiana's local businesses an A+, ranking us No. 4 in the U.S.

Not sure if you can find what's on your Christmas list from locally owned businesses? I got you covered. Head over to independantwestand.org and you can search any city in Louisiana to find all of the local stores in operation, and what they offer.
