Happy Independence Day, America! There is something so great about a stunning fireworks display on the 4th of July, and the folks at Only in Louisiana have some locations around the state that are definitely worth traveling to for the big show. We've added a few of our own favorites in, but be sure to check out some fun events in other parishes around the state.

  • USS KIDD Fourth of July Spectacular - Baton Rouge - hot dog eating contest, vendor booths, a pie baking contest, and live music. Fireworks begin at 9:00 pm
  • Go 4th on the River - New Orleans - fireworks at 9:00 from barges on the Mississippi River at the Gov. Nichols Street Wharf and Canal Street Dock. Voted one of the best fireworks displays in the country
  • Independence Day Festival - Shreveport - family friendly events beginning at 7:30 am at Festival Plaza on Crockett St. Steak eating contest, Firecracker 5K Run, live music and fireworks at 9:15 pm
  • Celebration on the Cane - Natchitoches - events all day on the beautiful Cane River downtown culminate with a spectacular fireworks display at 9:00 pm
  • Red, White, Blue, and You - Lake Charles - activities at the Lake Charles Civic Center begin with a parade at 6:00 pm. Festivities include live music, kids activities, vendors and fireworks that begin at 9:00 pm
  • Erath 4th of July Celebration - in it's 80th year, this small town puts on a big party from June 30th - July 4th every year. Carnival Rides, great local entertainment, and water balloon fights between local firefighters are just some of the many fun activities leading up to the giant fireworks display on the 4th
  • Uncle Sam's Jam - Lafayette - July 3 Parc International downtown, with Geno Delafose and French Rockin' Boogie and Three37 Band. Kids activities and giant fireworks display. 4:00 pm - 10:00 pm
  • Stars and Stripes Celebration - Jennings - 4:00 pm - 9:00 pm - Oil and Gas Park. Giant fireworks display 9:00 pm, right along I-10. Music from Kegan Navarre and Bernie Allen and the Bernie Allen Band
  • Fourth of July Parade - New Iberia - 5:30 Bouligny Plaza. After the Parade enjoy the Honor Guard ceremony and patriotic music along the banks of beautiful Bayou Teche
