The Piggly Wiggly on 8410 Hwy. 182 in Opelousas was robbed a week ago and deputies need your help trying to catch the man who did it.

Sergeant Clay Higgins with the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office says the man shot his way through a glass door to get inside, forced the manager who was closing the business to open the safe, then got away with a large sum of cash. He was wearing a dark hoodie, a mask and gloves.

“This armed criminal was bold in his method and presented extreme threat to the store manager as well as the surrounding community," says Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz. "We're examining evidence from the scene and expect to identify the suspect eventually. When we do, we will see to it that he is prosecuted fully for his actions.”  “I also have my detectives communicating with other agencies to compare our evidence and surveillance images from the crime scene with some of their own evidence from unsolved burglaries and armed robberies that were very similar. We will work together and identify this criminal, and if he is found to be the suspect in multiple armed robberies and burglaries, he will certainly be in jail for many years if not the rest of his life”.

Call the St. Landry Sheriff's Office if you have any information.
