St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz says his agency, along with surrounding law enforcement agencies, teamed up to conduct a warrant round-up throughout the parish early this morning.

The law enforcement agencies participating in the round-up included:

  • Opelousas
  • Eunice
  • Arnaudville
  • Leonville
  • St. Landry Parish Marshall's Office

Sheriff Guidroz says,

“We get complaints from the community on a regular basis. The citizens of St. Landry Parish are tired of seeing drug deals occur on the streets of their neighborhoods. This roundup is a product of many hours of undercover purchases by our narcotic agents and hundreds of hours of surveillance. I want this round-up to send a message that drug dealing is not tolerated in St. Landry Parish. We're watching and we will catch you.”

St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office Spokesperson Captain Megan Vizena says officers started arresting drug dealers shortly after 3 o'clock this morning.

Vizena says,

“The various warrants are for the sale of methamphetamine, crack cocaine, powder cocaine, marijuana, and prescription pills. During the warrant round-up, agents were able to seize powder cocaine, crack cocaine, prescription pills, drug paraphernalia, marijuana and several hundred dollars of U.S. currency that was used to purchase drugs. The total street value of the all drugs seized is worth approximately $5,000 in U.S. currency."
