The writing has been on the proverbial wall for quite some time that one of rock music's biggest names would be heading over to the country side.

It became official Tuesday night when Steven Tyler announced during a surprise visit to the Grand Ole Opry that he is recording a country album. No word yet on a title of the album or release date.

The Aerosmith lead singer has been popping up at a lot of country music events over the last couple of years it seems. And then in January of this year, he moved to Music City.

Before the announcement he did give a clue as to who he was writing with. He tweeted a picture of him standing with Eric Paslay and songwriter Lindsey Lee Taylor.

There has been a long line of rockers who went country in the last few years. The results have been mixed but if I was a betting man, I'd say Steven is lined up to have at the very least an attentive audience when he does release this new music.

Time will tell.
