An approaching cold front will interact with Gulf moisture and an upper level trough to give South Louisiana residents a significant threat of rain today and tomorrow. The good news is that football games on Saturday  night should be played in slightly cooler but most certainly dryer air.

The current scan from the National Weather Service radar out of Lake Charles is showing mainly light shower activity moving across the area. There does appear to be more shower activity forming the coastal waters and that should affect the area by later today.

Rain chances across most of the I-10 corridor will be 70% today and tomorrow. There will be a continued chance of showers during the evening hours. The best chances for rain will start later this morning and continue through Friday. The Storm Prediction Center does project this weather event to be a producer of severe weather across the area. There will be some showers and thunderstorms that do produce gusty winds and heavy rain.

There will be a chance of showers on Saturday but by Saturday evening when Louisiana's Ragin Cajuns kick off against Northwestern State in Lafayette and the Cowboys of McNeese State kick off against Incarnate Word at Cowboy Stadium in Lake Charles skies should be clear and the humidity should be lower.
