At 11pm Sunday night the temperature at Houston's George Bush  Airport was 73 degrees. The temperature had dropped to 56 degrees by 3am. This onslaught of heavy rain and rapidly falling temperatures is what you will be waking up to this morning.

A cold front and associated thunderstorms, which you can clearly see on the National Weather Service radar, should be pushing through western sections of Acadiana by 6am. The heaviest weather associated with the system should clear the entire region by noon. Behind the front gusty north winds will drop temperatures quickly.

We advise parents to send kids to school with a jacket even though the temperature at bell time this morning might not be that cold. Dave Baker says the rest of the work week looks to be clear, cool and calm with the next chance of showers for late in the week.
