Suspicious Package Found at Opelousas Walmart Turns Out To Be Bag of Candy

It's a cliché, but it's always better to be safe than sorry. And in the climate of the world we live in, I personally have no issue with our police taking that approach.

One of those situations happened yesterday when Opelousas Police identified a suspicious package at the Walmart on Creswell Lane.

Officials say the area was locked down and a hazmat team from Baton Rouge was called out to the scene to detonate the package.

It turns out, however, that the package was merely a bag of candy. It was wrapped in electrical tape, so police were unclear as to the contents inside.
