The Cost Of Competing On American Idol

I have to admit, "American Idol" is an on/off obsession with me. After  Acadiana's own Jacee Badeaux left this year, I didn't watch with as much enthusiasm. But they always seem to come up with some potential country music superstars, so I'll definatly be glued to the set during the finale. It's a great excuse to have a party, and celebrate that elusive American Dream. I was pretty shocked, however, to see what the actual dollar numbers are for contestants- rags to riches might be the understatement of the year!

Idol Loves Country! Liberal Media Does Not

So what's a DJ like me doing going all political and using American Idol as a platform? In the words of Howard Cosell, I am calling it like I see it. For some reason the blogosphere doesn't think American Idol should be about singing talent, making music stars and God forbid singing Country Music! They seem to think it is a platform for gender bending freaks with marginal talent or a place where a few tattoos and an outlandish costume are enough to pay the freight. America spoke last night, Idol loves country, the liberal media does not.

Jacee Badeaux Not The Only Idol Snub

I must be truthful my personal involvement with TV's American Idol ended the moment Kellie Pickler was eliminated. Alright I did watch when Jacee Badeaux was on but when he was moved on so did I. I have found the show to be a great example of  just how transparent and fake the music business can be. Idol has provided for some really cruel moments in the past but the treatment of a former Idol contestant might be the coldest cut of all.

I guess the folks out on the crazy coast are learning a lesson that they won't soon forget. Never underestimate the power of a Louisiana Boy! Congrats Jacee!

The group performances on American Idol just KILL me every season! I never understand why a show all about individual talent tries to force feed us these groups?!? But I digress. Last night we celebrate another night of getting through to the next round by Lafayette High's Jacee Badeaux. He was kicked out of his original group and found a new group at the last minute. He didn't know the words of the song but still is a sentimental favorite. That's our boy! Doing us proud Dawg!! Hear what went down last night right here:
