distracted texting

The other day I was in my car at the intersection of Kaliste Saloom and Ambassador Caffery, when I noticed a group of teenagers crossing the intersection. They crossed at the proper time, but all six of them were staring at their phones and texting as they crossed. If a car would have run a light, they tragically would have never seen it coming. I'm not picking on them, this is something we all do. You can bet that the woman in this video will be more aware of her surroundings as she texts from now on.

We all know the dangers of texting and driving, but a new movie is really hammering that point home.

A Boston, Massachusetts teen has been sentenced to two years in prison after being found guilty of causing a fatal car crash due to texting and driving.

One country is now requiring new drivers to demonstrate to the testing officer that they can in fact safely text and drive. If they can't prove they can perform this action behind the wheel, they do not get a license to drive.

Here is really good proof of what texting and walking can make you do.  Be sure to take notes!  I almost don't ever want to text and walk now because I don't want to do anything like this. Warning: It is never ok to text and drive!
