Here in the Gulf South we have learned to respect Mother Nature. She sometimes does things that can make life on this, the third rock from the Sun a little scary. We all have some idea about hurricanes and tornadoes, we learned a little bit about snow and ice last week, but how about "partly cloudy with a chance of asteroids?" It seems there is this one space rock that scientist call Apophis that is kind of, sort of, but not really on a collision course with Mother Earth. We say kind of, sort of because the reports of our eminent demise come from Russian scientist, the same folks who used to publish Weekly World News.
