This weekend we remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice so that we might celebrate our freedom everyday.

The principal at a Coney Island, NY elementary school is under fire from both parents and some members of the community after she banned the kids from singing Lee Greenwood’s patriotic anthem ‘God Bless the USA’ at a kindergarten graduation. But you won’t believe what she says they can sing.

I have seen and heard this piece maybe a thousand times, each time it puts a lump in my throat. On this day when we honor the flag that symbolizes the greatest nation on Earth I hope you will feel that same feeling.  Be sure to watch this at home tonight with your kids. Tell them how you we  used to start our school day and how important the words of the Pledge are.
