You are probably thinking based on that headline, this is going to be a strange tale. I guess it could be, but it's more of comment on the world in which we live. The story that prompted these thoughts is about a man from Austria. This gentleman is a professed Atheist. I have no problem with that, as I have stated before, your relationship with the Higher Power is a personal thing. This isn't a story of religious beliefs though, it's more of a "I am going to make you do it my way because I can" story. That is the problem with world as I see it.

I love the question "What would Jesus Do?" It helps me sometimes find my center and do the right thing when I'm not sure exactly what that is. I wonder if the Good Lord in his infinite wisdom saw this coming. I'm sure he did and I would think he would probably like the idea. Anything that helps us do right by his teachings and live under the direction of the "Big 10" has got to be pretty good huh? You're probably thinking, that Bruce Mikells he must be a real Bible Thumper. Not really, I do have my own relationship with a higher power and it's personal just like I pray yours is. However, when it comes to religion and government why must common sense always be totally overlooked? I don't think that Cross was put there to offend and I for one would not be offended if other faiths and beliefs were given representation at this memorial that honors those who have fallen in service to our country.

The act of taking a moment to ask for guidance and forgiveness has sparked a lawsuit yet again. Phrases like "forgive us our trespasses" and "lead us not in to temptation",have no place in this country any more right? NOT!!! I wonder sometimes if the Good Lord up above doesn't look down and just shake his head. Here we go again, the Lord's Prayer may now be officially ruled unconstitutional.
