Louisiana lawmakers have agreed to a $600 borrowing plan to fund three interstate projects aimed at alleviating traffic and boosting economic development.
Work has officially begun on a major road and bridge renovation for the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge. The project will run on Interstate 10 from LA 347 (Henderson/Cecilia exit) to LA 77 in Grosse Tete.
There will be temporary lane closures happening in both directions of I-49 beginning tonight (Feb. 26) and lasting Saturday, March 31, as DOTD crews perform repairs of various elevated bridge structures.
In addition to the bridge closures that have already begun today, there will be alternating lane closures happening in both directions from LA 91 in Estherwood to LA 35 in Rayne for various bridge repairs, weather permitting.

On Tuesday, the northbound outside lane and shoulder of US 90 East, between Albertson’s Parkway and Ambassador Caffery, will be closed for routine bridge inspections.
Beginning Tuesday and lasting until Thursday, the eastbound lane of US 90 between LA 668 and LA 88 (St. Mary/Iberia Parish line) in Iberia Parish will be closed for grading shoulders.
