Gleason,  a retired former New Orleans Saints special teams captain who revealed that he has amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a rare terminal disease that damages the nerves that control voluntary muscle movement, served as the Saints' honorary captain Sunday against the Houston Texans at the Superdome.
