Tax Amnesty For Louisiana Taxpayers Begins Today

If you owe the State of Louisiana money in back taxes today might be your lucky day. Today starts a period of tax amnesty for delinquent taxpayers in the state. If you owe money you can pay that money without facing a penalty.

The state is hoping this plan of tax amnesty will generate $200 million dollars in revenue. That amount may seem large but when you consider there is between 1.3 and 1.4 billion dollars outstanding to the state it is a small drop in the bucket. It is estimated that 443-thousand Louisiana residents owe the state money. This period of amnesty would allow citizens to come forward and pay what they owe with out fear of penalty.
