If you’ve ever been to Walmart the day after Thanksgiving, you know that the mega-sized retailer sure knows how to draw a crowd. But the publicly-traded company again displayed its knack for pumping up a big crowd this month when Zac Brown Band, Lionel Richie and Taylor Swift performed at the annual shareholder meeting on Friday (June 1).

To put the icing on the cake for shareholders and customers, Walmart welcomed Justin Timberlake onstage to host the entertainment portion of the evening. What ensued between Timberlake and Swift was, well, pretty awkward.

Timberlake told the audience that he was trying to find a real Walmart customer in Fayetteville, Ark. Luckily, he had found a willing customer that morning, and she was going to come on stage to talk about what the store means to her. Enter: Taylor Swift in an adorable white and blue floral dress.

“My name is Taylor. I’m from Nashville. I’m a singer,” she told Timberlake shyly.

“Of course you are. A singer? Whatever,” he joked. The bit went on for a minute or so, and then Timberlake asked the ‘Love Story’ hitmaker what she likes about the store.

“I really like Walmart because my band and I like to go there,” she said. “We go in there and they have everything we need,” she said. “They have candy. And steaks. ‘Law & Order’ DVDs. Cat toys. Everything.”

We all know how much the singer lovers her cat. Swift saved the awkward moment, eventually, by performing ‘Mean,’ the lead single off of her 2010 ‘Speak Now’ album. The disc debuted at No. 1 on the charts, thanks in part to Walmart’s promotion of the award-winning star. While there, she also performed ‘Love Story.’

The shareholder meeting actually doubled as the company’s 50th anniversary celebration, which explains why such star power was present for the meeting.
