One of the insurance companies for Texas Brine Company has now filed a lawsuit against the company alleging they have documents proving the company ignored warnings of potential trouble at the Assumption Parish salt dome cavern that is now the site of a more than 25 acre sinkhole.

The salt dome cavern collapsed last year, and a massive sinkhole has developed in that area.  Over 150 families are out of their homes since being evacuated when the sinkhole was first discovered.

Liberty Insurance Underwriters contends in their federal lawsuit that some staff of Texas Brine and others warned for years that there could be disaster at the site.  Information in the lawsuit says the insurer has company memos, email and reports to back up their claims.

Texas Brine disputes many of the allegations made in the lawsuit, and they contend that Liberty Insurance Underwriters has inappropriately used confidential information.
