The Ant Farm Has Come A Long Way [Video]

I never really understood ant farms. I had one as a kid but I have never liked ants. Especially now when I have to mow the yard and I step into their homes and they react with violence and venom. Ant farms allow us a humans to observe ants doing what they do best. The transparent world of the ant farm allows us to see the tunnels being dug, the babies being born, the struggle to survive if you will.

When I was a kid ant farms came with dirt, not NASA space gel. I think it gives the appearance that the ants are crawling around in air freshener. Did you have an ant farm when you were young? What other "toy" of your youth is now so new and improved you don't recognize it?
