The Band Perry are back in the studio working on their sophomore project, following the amazing success of their debut self-titled album, which spawned three Top 5 singles — two of which went all the way to No. 1. The new tunes on the way are still a work in progress, but the sibling trio was apparently anxious to get a fresh song on the charts after ‘All Your Life.’ Just this week, the Perrys revealed yet another single, ‘Postcard From Paris,’ from their debut album.

“[The new album is] TBD for TBP,” Kimberly Perry tells Taste of Country with laughter. “We just played the Ryman [recently] (Monday, Feb. 27), and we debuted six new songs on the new stage. We’ll get everything down on tape between March and April.”

“We’re writing with a lot of different people, kind of doing it all over the place,” adds Reid Perry. “We’ve written with Skylar Grey as well, who is a writer out of L.A., and we’ve been listening to songs here in Nashville, just finding the best songs we can.”

As far as the song selection, the band has been collaborating with some familiar names for the project, including the Henningsens, who are the writers behind ‘All Your Life’ and ‘You Lie.’ A majority of the songs penned thus far were created on the road as opposed to at their Tennessee home like with the first album, simply because they’ve been going nonstop since the release of their first single in 2009.

“We’ve been touring so much,” says Kimberly. “We got started on the road heavy when ‘Hip to My Heart’ came out. We really haven’t been home since [laughs]! So just by default, a lot of times the three of us will just hold up in a greenroom or the tour bus and really try to break ground on new songs. The Henningsens have come out on the road a ton with us. They are like extended family, so they will definitely play a huge role with co-writing with us for this record. We’re excited.”

The Band Perry are currently on the road with Brad Paisley on his Virtual Reality Tour, which also features Scotty McCreery. Click here for a complete list of dates where the tour will be stopping in the coming weeks.
