If you are like me, you can't function without your morning cup of coffee. I'm not sure what it is, but a hot cup of coffee just gets me ready for the busy day ahead. Sometimes when I'm going to bed I already think about waking up and having my cup of coffee. Did you know that every year the average American drinks enough coffee to fill up a bath tub? What's the real scoop on coffee? Why do we love it so much?

The fact that we get more antioxidants from coffee than fruits and vegetables is pretty awesome. Some of us think we are addicted to coffee, but caffeine is a safe ingredient. You are not likely to become addicted to coffee if consumed in moderation, but you probably feel dependent on it if you drink it regularly. Yeah, that's me.

Moderate caffeine consumption is proven to lower your risk of diabetes, liver disease, gallstones, and Parkinson's disease. This doesn't mean you should drink a gallon of coffee a day just to prevent yourself from these health complications.  Like I said, everything in moderation is perfect.

It has been debated that coffee will sober you up if you are intoxicated, but this is not true. I don't think anything except water and sleep will sober anyone up. Just remember, drinking too much coffee can turn your teeth yellow, so be sure to swig some water after your morning dose. Keep on drinking coffee, coffee lovers!
