Embattled Lafayette City Marshal Brian Pope is being released from jail after Louisiana's Third Circuit Court of Appeal ruled he will not have to serve his 30-day sentence.

Fifteenth Judicial District Court Judge Jules Edwards ordered  Pope to serve 30 days in jail on a contempt of court charge. Pope was to serve 23 days of that sentence after 7 days of time served was factored.

Edwards revoked Pope's probation after he found the marshal failed to complete his community service in an appropriate time.
