Late last month, J.C. Penney made the announcement that they would be closing around 150 stores nationwide.

If you're a fan of the retail chain, then you'll be happy to know that the two Lafayette locations will remain open. Those are at the Acadiana Mall and in the Stirling Lafayette Shopping Center on Louisiana Avenue.

However, three stores in Louisiana will be closing in the coming months. The stores are at Cortana Mall in Baton Rouge, North Shore Square in Slidell and Park Terrace in Deridder.

Most of the stores that are closing will begin liquidation sales in April and close their doors in June.

The reason for the mass closings is their declining sales. J.C. Penney is certainly not the first department store retailer to feel the pinch. Other chains, including Macy's and Sears, have announced closures in recent months as well.
