This is how every sport should determine its champion. Let the best of the best fight it out on the field of play or the track in this case and may the best team win. Tony Stewart overcame a lousy starting position, some  mistakes on pit road and dodged the raindrops at just the right time to win  his third NASCAR Championship Sunday.

Stewart who started the day trailing Carl Edwards by 3 points had to win the race to win the championship. It was a drive for the ages, Stewart came from the back of the pack not once, but twice, he passed 118 cars en route to the checkered flag. Edwards, drove an incredible race too, but Tony Stewart was not to be denied on this day.

It's the first time since 1992 when the late Alan Kulwicki took the then Winston Cup has an owner driver claimed NASCAR's biggest prize.
