Top 5 Florida Georgia Line Songs

Florida Georgia Line have kept earning hit after hit ever since their freshman record, Here’s to the Good Times, was released in 2012. In the years since then, the duo — made up of Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley — has charted upwards of 10 No. 1 singles and released three albums, including their most recent project, Dig Your Roots.

With so many chart-topping tunes amassed in such a short amount of time, selecting Florida Georgia Line’s five best tracks is a tall task. Below are The Boot’s picks.

“May We All”

Florida Georgia Line recorded “May We All,” which says, in part, “May we all get to grow up in a red-white-and-blue little town / Get a one-star hand me down Ford to try to fix up / With some part-time cash from driving a tractor / Find a sweet little thing, wears your ballcap backwards,” with Tim McGraw.

“We all smirked when we heard Tim McGraw come in on that second verse,” Kelley recalls. “Everybody knows who it is, and that’s one of the coolest feelings, that song on the album … It’s very humbling.”

“Sippin’ on Fire”

From ‘Anything Goes’ (2014)

Sippin’ on Fire” shows more of an emotional depth to Florida Georgia Line than some of their previous singles; in it, they’re lamenting a former flame who began another relationship while sparks were still flying. The song’s accompanying video was shot in the Las Vegas desert.

This sentimental song features lines such as, “Drift a cloud back behind county roads that you run up / The mud on her jeans that she peeled off and hung up / Her blue-eyed summertime smile looks so good that it hurts / Makes you wanna build a 10-percent-down white-picket-fence house on this dirt” and broke a record, previously held by Taylor Swift, for the most adds at country radio. A multi-platinum hit, “Dirt” stayed at the top of the charts for two weeks.

“Anything Goes”

From ‘Anything Goes’ (2014)

The title track of FGL’s sophomore album, “Anything Goes” became an anthem for weekend parties: “Big stars breaking out through the indigo / Chevy wind comin’ in and stereo / Tail lights disappear in ’bout a mile or so / Down a county road … Anything goes on a Friday night.” The video for “Anything Goes” shows Kelley and Hubbard performing the song live.

This one’s the first song that Florida Georgia Line ever released — and it put them on the fast track to being one of the most successful acts in country music. “Cruise” also broke all kinds of records, including becoming the first single in the history of country music to be certified diamond by the RIAA, and becoming the longest-running single to stay at the top of the Billboard charts, with a record of 24 weeks.

“When we were in the studio, we were starting to record the song and track the vocals, and BK said, ‘We’re going to sell a million copies of these,’” Hubbard once told The Boot. “I was like, ‘Dude, you’re crazy. You’re out of your mind.’ At the time, we were maybe selling a couple thousand songs a week of our old stuff. When we sit down and pinch each other and think about it, that a million people bought our songs, it’s a little bit crazy.”
