Is A ‘Top Gun’ Sequel in the Works?

Tom Cruise says he’s ready to get back into the cockpit and reprise his iconic role as Lt. Pete “Maverick” Mitchell.
‘We’re working on it,” Cruise told MTV News when asked about a potential ‘Top Gun’ sequel. “I hope we can figure this out to do it again.”
According to Cruise, he’s been discussing plots with Tony Scott, who directed the 1986 film.
“If we can find a story that we all want to do, we all want to make a film that is in the same kind of tone as the other one and shoot it in the same way as we shot ‘Top Gun,’” Cruise explained.
Sequel or no sequel, ‘Top Gun’ fans will soon get a chance to see Maverick, Joker, Iceman and rest on the big screen, as the original movie will be getting a 3D re-release sometime in 2012.
