The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has announced construction projects that will affect motorist in St Landry, St. Martin and Iberia Parish this weekend and the beginning of next week. A reminder all projects are subject to weather and may have to be rescheduled with rain in the forecast for much of the area on Sunday.

Interstate 10 Eastbound Atchafalaya Basin Bridge: Eastbound travel will be reduced by one lane Sunday March 23rd for crews to gather GPS data. The lane closures will occur between Henderson (Exit 115 ) and Butte LaRose ( Exit 121) between the hours of 7am and 9am. The project will move eastward to the Whiskey Bay area between 10am and Noon.

U.S Highway 190 Bridge in Krotz Springs: The westbound lanes of U.S. Highway 190 in Krotz Springs will be reduced to one lane of travel from now until at least late Monday. Repairs are being made to the bridge and authorities hope to have them completed by as early as 4pm on Monday March 24. Inclement weather might extend the period of time these lane closures will have to be in place.

Louisiana Highway 14 West of Louisiana 329: This project will affect motorist in the city of New Iberia beginning Saturday morning at 10am. Center Street will be closed west of Avery Island Road until Sunday at 6pm. The detour around this closure will be marked on U.S. Highway 90 and Louisiana Highway 83.

The Department of Transportation and Development regrets the inconvenience these projects may have for motorist and urges all drivers to use extra care and caution when traveling in and near work zones.
