Travelers on Interstate 10 will need to plan some extra time into their travel plans if they have travels that take them near Exit 44. The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announced that East bound travelers on I-10 passing through that interchange can expect delays beginning Saturday morning at 4am.

The reason for the delays will be bridge repair and construction. Eastbound traffic will take Exit 44 to U.S. 165 South and then travel east on to LA 3258. Travelers will then follow the detour path to return to eastbound I-10. One other item that travelers will want to be made aware of is the detour route crosses an active railroad track. Authorities will be working with Union Pacific Railroad to minimize delays but travelers are encouraged to remember railroad safety rules and plan extra time for potential train delays.

If the weather permits and construction is completed on schedule traffic on I-10 should return to its regular flow by Wednesday November 6th. For alternate routes to avoid the construction motorist are urged to visit the DOTD website or dial 511 on their wireless phone.
