If you like to drop a few dollars on the ponies then you know what it feels like to win by a nose and lose by a nose literally. It's hard to imagine that these amazing animals can travel as far and as fast as they do to have the outcome decided by a nostril.

Waiting for the official photo from the photo finish at the track is one of the most tense moments any sports fan will ever feel.

Imagine the electricity that was zinging through Evangeline Downs Racetrack in Opelousas last night when not two but three horses were under the wire at the same time. Usually you can see the slight difference in where the horses finished, but in this case, all three horses appear to hit the wire at exactly the same time.

When two horses tie it's called a dead heat. When three horses tie, it's a triple dead heat or holy crap did that really just happen? Because it doesn't happen often. In fact this is the first time in the history of the Evangeline Down Racetrack that there has been a triple dead heat. The most recent triple dead heat in the racing industry was in 1997 at Hollywood Park.

Live racing continues at Evangeline Downs Tonight, first post is 5:40pm. Tonight will also feature another night of live music after the racing card has concluded. Acadiana's own Sammy Kershaw brings a wagon load of  hits to stage in the EVD events center.
