Hurricane season officially started June 1 and already the Atlantic basin has seen three storms get a name. Will storm number four get a name in the Gulf of Mexico.If it does it will be named Debby.

Officials at the National Hurricane Center are giving an area of disturbed weather near Cuba a 50% chance of further development in the next 48 hours.

Our local hurricane guru Rob Perrillo from our TV partner KATC has his opinions on the subject too. Most of the reliable tropical models and forecasters agree, there will be some development of this system over the next few days but right now the guidance suggests much of the activity would be pushed off to the east and northeast affecting the west coast of Florida as opposed to creating a problem for Louisiana's coastal parishes.
