ROSEBURG, Ore. (AP) — Multiple casualties occurred Thursday in a shooting at a community college in southwestern Oregon, authorities said.

Portland, Ore., television station KATU-TV is reporting that seven to ten people are dead and at least 20 more were wounded in the shooting on the Umpqua Community College campus, Oregon State Police Lieutenant Bill Fugate said.

Roseburg Police said they have one in custody, Roseburg health official Shawn Clark told KATU.

Authorities responded to a report of an active shooter just before 11 a.m. In a tweet Thursday, the local fire district advised people to stay away from the college. The city is about 180 miles south of Portland.

Umpqua Community College has about 3,000 students.
