The wait is nearly over -- Twinkies will be making a return to a store shelf near you on July 15.

Hostess, which went bankrupt in 2012, is under new management. Hostess is now owned by the private equity firms Apollo Global Management and Metropoulos & Co.

The company is touting the return of the beloved Twinkies as "the sweetest comeback in the history of ever."

"America wanted Hostess back -- they wanted the original. Very soon consumers will once again be able to enjoy Twinkies, CupCakes and other great Hostess snack cakes. A comeback by any other name could never be as sweet," Daren Metropoulos, principal of Metropoulos & Co., said in a statement.

Fans were devastated last year when Hostess was forced to close its doors and shut down production in part due to a bakery workers' strike.

By the way, a box of 10 Twinkies will set your back $3.99, about the same price as before.
